Ellen is a multi-talented award-winning dance performer and instructor in Central & Northern New York. Her relaxed and joyful dance style is rooted in her deep love for Middle Eastern folk dance and vintage American Cabaret.

Ellen began her bellydance journey in Southern California in 2003, performing with Los Angeles-based folklore company Troupe Dance Mosaic. This experience sparked a lifelong passion for Middle Eastern folk dance. Ellen believes that a rich understanding of the history, meaning, and cultural context of dance is an essential part of being a well-rounded performer. She is well educated in many Middle Eastern folk dance styles, and has received training from respected experts such as Aisha Ali, Sahra Kent, and others.

Ellen is also an experienced instructor with a solid background in classical dance training. Her detail-oriented yet approachable teaching style helps make bellydance accessible to students of all levels.

 

Beyond bellydance, Ellen trains and performs in modern dance, Irish step, and other world folk dance styles.
